Kindle & Nook…

Amazon and Barnes & Noble really need to get on the ball.  I have finished Explosive Dreams.  I have uploaded it to all the sites.  CreateSpace, Amazon and B&N are just waiting for me to hit the publish button.  On the flip side, Smashwords has it available now as a pre-order and it should be available on iBooks and a few others before the week ends.

While I realize there are both pros and cons to allowing an author to pre-sale a book, it seems like a functionality that Amazon and B&N should be getting around to by now… especially Amazon.  They’ve been the industry leaders for indies for some time now.  And I know they’ve tested it.  So, why isn’t it available yet to all indies or at least indies that have published x amount of books or have a series in progress?

Explosive Dreams will be the fourth in the Dreams & Reality series.  It has a following, especially on Amazon.  I have a feeling my next trilogy will as well, but we’ll discuss that more later.  Yet, Amazon denies me the ability to do pre-sales of a series that has had 2 books hit the Amazon best sellers list (and might have 3, if I market Mercurial Dreams like I should be doing… a failing on my part).

My book is uploaded and ready to go and I have to be available the night of the 13th to release it or it won’t be available on the 14th as expected by my readers.  What happens if I’m in the hospital or something when the 13th rolls around?  I’ll lose readers because I didn’t release my book as expected, that’s what will happen.  It breaks trust when a group of readers expects a book to come out and it doesn’t… Ask any author.

Anyway, that’s my complaint for the night.
