Everyone is waiting to find out who the next President is… (I wrote this Monday and I might be wrong and we know who is president), but I suspect it will take a day or two. However, it does mean you get to listen to my commentary on elections for another two days. On October 9, 2020 Trump Tweeted this (copied directly from Trump on Twitter): With Universal Mail-In Voting (not Absentee Voting, which is good), 2020 will be the most INACCURATE & FRAUDULENT Election in history.
First, it won’t be the most inaccurate and fraudulent election in history. Voter fraud is not rampant and widespread like Trump claims. Every state requires some sort of verification for mail-in ballots (PS absentee ballots get the exact same treatment and verification as general mail-in ballots – so if Absentee ballots are good than mail-in balloting must also be good). Now, if 400 million people vote, it will in fact be the most fraudulent election ever because the voting population in the US is approximately 250 million people and only about 160 million of the voting population is registered to vote.
Second, this is setting up the next act. If Trump loses he will take it up with the Supreme Court declaring the election fraudulent.
Third, if Trump wins he thinks his criticisms on voter fraud should just disappear, but after listening to him complain without any foundation for four years, I think we should hold him to his words. If he wins, I think it should be challenged as fraudulent. Every time he screams about voter fraud he is talking about us… the people of the United States intentionally committing a crime, because unless Iran or Russia is tampering with the US election than the only people that could be perpetrating this outrageous and criminal voter fraud are the people wearing “I Voted” stickers. Which I am wearing because I am one of those 100 million people that voted via mail-in ballot because I have heart disease and should limit my COVID exposure risks as well as being disabled and unable to stand in long voter lines (which happened because they closed my local poll and moved it to a larger location with more people). However, since I voted via mail-in ballot more than one person has told me they hope I go to prison for voter fraud.
Fourth, in the last 160 years, hundreds of studies by universities have revealed voter fraud is rare, except when it comes to voter intimidation which is becoming more prevalent again. Furthermore, there are hundreds of court cases challenging the concept of widespread voter fraud that have proved it is rare, except in the case of voter intimidation.
Fifth, if I never hear the term “voter fraud” again during my lifetime I will die happy. Unless we get proof that Russia sent in millions of fraudulent ballots for this election, I would rather hear the intimate details regarding grass growth than the phrase “voter fraud.” Here’s the deal; it is more likely that the Loch Ness Monster is real than that millions of fraudulent ballots were cast in the 2016 or 2020 election. Hell a review of 2016 voting found just 4… read that again FOUR… instances of illegal ballots (defined as either casting more than one ballot for yourself or casting a ballot using someone else’s identity). F*cking FOUR! OH THE HORROR! We are all going to be crushed by the stack of illegal ballots! Was that too dramatic of a response to hating the term “voter fraud?” I was trying to match the enthusiasm and vehemence those that claim there is rampant voter fraud have… I think I captured the spirit of it.
Finally, Trump spoke in early 2020 about how if he was elected to a second term it would be proof the people never wanted to get rid of him and he’d remove the amendment regarding term limits for presidents. What the F*CK?! I listened to people whine for 8 years about how Obama was going to make himself king (and he never once mentioned being president for life) and how we would need to take up arms to oust him from office. Trump has said numerous times in the last four years that he doesn’t believe in term limits for presidents and he should be president for life… but the same people that were positive Obama was going to declare himself king are not worried that Trump has repeatedly said he should be president for life? Wow.
Show me your stickers! Get out there and vote.
