I have a rule about going to bed immediately after writing a killer’s chapter. I don’t do it. It is the fastest way to screw up my dreams.
Today, when I hit the 5,000 word mark, I decided to reward myself and it wasn’t a killer’s chapter, so off to take a nap I went. I’ve introduced something new this book, victim chapters. They aren’t as prolific as killers’ chapters and their only goal is to make you feel a little bit more sorry for some victims.
It turns out, my selective sleep rule needs to include these as well as killers’ chapters. The title gives away that we are working with a poisoner. And I dreamed that someone (specific, not just a random someone) tried to kill me with shellfish. This isn’t as ludicrous as it seems, I am allergic to shellfish. It is possible to kill me with it.
But this dream was about someone draining the oil off a can of crab and frying my food in it. I don’t know how much crab protein is in the oil in a can of crab (I don’t actually think I’ve ever seen canned crab) or if it would kill me (as opposed to just making me swell up like a balloon), but now I have a new phobia.
Thanks nap time!
