My TeeSpring campaign is currently on hold while we attempt to establish my identity as the rights holder. I have mixed feelings about this.
I’m glad that they are taking such pains to protect my branding. As an author, that’s really all I have. No one else that I have created marketing material with has done such a thing. It’s nice to know someone is looking out for me.
On the flip side, it is very hard to establish one as an intellectual rights holder considering I write with a pen name. It isn’t like I can email them a picture of my driver’s license with a tax form. They both have my “real name” not Hadena James. If ever there was a reason to create Hadena James Publishing, this is it. I could at least send them my business license, but that is one of those things I have been putting off.
Perhaps it is time to stop putting it off. It has some disadvantages as far as taxes go at the moment, but it would be useful later.
I have sent them some paperwork to try to help establish me as the rights holder. *cross your fingers*
