Books v. Ebooks

I love books. I have thousands of print books shoved in every nook and cranny of my bookshelves. Even then, my library still spreads to overwhelm the bookcases and become decor in other pieces of furniture. This is not a bad thing…

After a dreary, rain filled day spent shopping in Quincy, Illinois (had lunch at a place called Village Inn, very good food), we turned in early. I have officially read all the ebooks in my Kindle and iPhone but had accidentally packed a short story collection by Ambrose Bierce… A paperback.

To my horror, as I sat down to read it and my SO went to bed, I discovered I needed light. I’m not in the bedroom, so light is easy to come by… But I don’t need lights for ebooks. Also, I don’t need bookmarks. And it’s quieter to read on my Kindle, no pages to turn.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m settling in with my paperback of Ambrose Bierce stories (who doesn’t love Bierce)… I just can’t believe I practically forgot how to read a physical book!

I haven’t read a print book in a while – it’s definitely an adjustment going from one to the other
