6,348 words

Since I finished Explosive Dreams on 1 May, I have written exactly 6,348 words on my next novel.  I started writing it in April, while I waited for the editing to get finished.  In the two weeks that I waited on edits, I wrote 12,984 words.  Same amount of time, less writing… why?  Because I’m waiting for my book to publish.

I don’t know what happens during the time between I get done with a book and I publish the book, but it’s like my brain shuts off.  It doesn’t matter what I’m writing, but it seems to lose it’s way.  It feels very final and until I go ahead and hit the publish button, the feeling of finality is very intense.

This feeling creates some strange blockage that stops me from writing on a new novel.  You’d think I would enjoy this vacation, but I don’t.  I love to write.  When I’m not writing, it feels like I’m missing something from my life.

Ah, the suffering of waiting…
