I sat down to write…

I sat down to write and got distracted.  My phone vibrated at me and a video game told me that something was ready to be played.  Then there was a buzzing noise behind me that turned out to be a wasp and it had to die (my SO is allergic).  I returned to the writing position and found that I didn’t like the song I was listening to, so I changed it… five times.  Then I needed a water, because it’s that time in the afternoon to switch from soda to water.  And since I was up, I decided to grab a snack (I’m not really a snacker)… that’s when I realized I was doing everything to keep from writing.

So, I wrote and scheduled my Explosive Dreams newsletter.  I followed that up by writing this blog post.

I’m positive my current novel has a plot… and I’m racing right along through it… at this rate, I’ll be done in three days.  Of course, it will only be about 30,000 words long and have absolutely no action sequences in it…

Ok, there’s a huge hole in the novel.  The plot is sound, getting a story into the area around the plot seems to be a problem.   This is an usual problem for me.  Normally, it’s getting around to finishing the plot that causes me problems, not the writing of action sequences in the middle.  And there’s a lot that could be done to put action sequences in the current novel, so why am I missing them?

I don’t know… I’m sure I’ll get sorted in a few days though…

  1. You’ve just got to wait for that moment when things start to flow. Sometimes it takes a day or so before I can get myself around a problem or plot hole. It’s annoying, but necessary 🙂
