Save the Black-Footed, Glow-In-The-Dark, Orange-Eared Batloon

In my email this morning, I had a message from a charity.  The first line screamed at me: Only YOU can save the Giant Panda!

My thought: Pandas are screwed.

Honestly, if I’m the only person on the planet available to save anything, just plan for it to go extinct.

Don’t get me wrong, I’ll all for saving things: trees, whales, water, energy, etc.  I even recycle.  But if you want me to do something other than send a check… well… it’s probably not going to happen.

In the past, I have tried to get involved.  I’ve volunteered and what-not, at the end of the day, it didn’t make me feel better about myself or my contributions to saving the planet or whatever I was volunteering for… It made me feel like I had lost a couple of hours of my life and would never get them back.  So, I just don’t bother anymore.

Perhaps I’m missing the “get involved” gene.

    • Yes, I’m very glad there are people out there willing to do the crusading for the causes I support and I’m even happier that they just want my money.
