Book Reviews

Ok, my crappy book reviews will be posted only on Sundays from this point forward.  (Disclaimer: I received this book free from Story Cartel in exchange for my honest review)

This week, Death, The Devil and The Goldfish by Andrew Buckley.

For fans of Good Omens by Neil Gaimen and Terry Pratchett, I highly recommend.  It reminded me quite a bit of this classic apocalyptic tale.

It contained tons of humor and good one-liners by the author.  There were moments when everything seemed disconnected, only to have the plot lines reconnected.

At times, I found myself giggling out loud… Although, it never created the full-belly laugh that Good Omens creates.  Well worth a few hours of your time, if slapsticky, zany, madcap, bizarre apocalyptic humor is your thing.  Luckily for me, it is mine, so I enjoyed this book.

In short, Death quits his job, the devil gets a week to walk on Earth (as a cat), and a policeman gets fired… then there is the prophetic goldfish and the transformed penguin…

I gave it 4 stars on Amazon because it was funny and entertaining.  I thought the ending was a little weak, but the character development and plot were well done.  I especially enjoyed the rambly parts.  I’d recommend it.
