Thank You

I had a different post scheduled for today, however, my SO & I watched the Cardinals/Phillies game last night.  It was being broadcast on the Armed Forces Network.

It was a good reminder.  Sometimes, I forgot how I got here.  I know I mention my history degree.  But my family is why I got it.  Yes, they supported me in college, but they are also the reason I finally decided to get a history degree.

My great uncle was a trench soldier in WWII.  His wife, a French woman, served in the French Resistance.  Several of my uncles served in the Bay of Pigs, the Korean War and the Vietnam war (as a matter of fact, my great aunt served in Vietnam after serving in the Resistance).  My father-in-law is a vet.  My dad signed up to serve, but couldn’t… flat feet and a heart condition.

My first non-familial “fan”, her husband is in the reserves.  Two of my good friends have children that are Marines.  My nephew was ROTC, but like my dad, turns out he has a heart condition.

So to everyone who serves and has served and all of their loved ones, I give you my thanks.  For everything you do, everything you endure and everything you stand for, I give you my thanks.
