Twitter for Dummies?

Is there a Twitter for Dummies guide?  I think I’m getting it figured out, but I’m not sure.  Today is the official release day for Tortured Dreams.

In theory, it should have 5 reviews this morning.  That’s how many beta-readers I used.  It has none, zero, zip, nada… None of my beta-readers took the trouble to review it.  However, they all told me how much they enjoyed it (thanks, but that isn’t really helpful… I need you to tell others how much you enjoyed it).

Anyway, back to the point, I composed a tweet using hash-tags this morning.  This is a huge leap forward for me.  Most of the time, I don’t bother to post to twitter and when I do, I never use hash-tags.  But someone told me they were very important.

This meant I went out on a limb this morning and added a few to my post.  However, how do you know what hash-tags to use?  I’ve been trying to figure it out looking at other people’s hash-tags and that isn’t getting me very far either.

I have reached that point… The point in everyone’s life where technology seems to be eclipsing them.  I can no longer create a web page and I have trouble using Twitter.

My local adult education center is offering a class on Twitter.  I am considering taking it.  I need to be able to use these social media for more than just retweeting other posts that include my name or my book titles.

Ok, off to find a 15 year old to teach me to use twitter…

  1. I tweet two-three times a day on average, and I tend not to use hashtags at all. I do have my WordPress tied to my my twitter so that when I blog here it automatically tweets there, and my twitter tied to my Facebook so that when I tweet it shoes up on Facebook.
